Thanks for replying, Renate. Unless someone replies to a mail from Yahoo, a lot of us don't see the original mail and excellent review too, Tom.

He has his favorite bands, but I think after the great show that Heep put on, they are at the top of his list, and he is wanting to see all of my old albums now. The show was full, at first I had doubts, as the floor was only about 30% full, mostly dinosaurs like myself...but by the show's opening, the place was full, with alot of younger people. Excellent show, and I think they sounded better than two years ago when I saw them in Milwaukee. The second show I saw was last week, March 16, at the Hard Rock Hotel in Sioux City, Iowa. I am lucky to live just 80 miles north of Sioux City, and 200 miles south of the Minneapolis show. my wife went with me to this show, seeing as how she went with me to Milwaukee to see them later. She enjoyed this show more, and like before, she says they not only sound good, but they look like they are actually enjoying themselves and the audience...something some bands do not do. I felt lucky to see Mick Box on the casino floor, and introduced myself and my wife to him, and he wished us luck on the slot machines....sorry, Mick, it didnt' help, but thanks, anyway. A bit later, I briefly met the entire band as they were ready to eat, but figured I would not be a "groupie" and sit by them. The show, like the one I saw the week before, was again excellant, and I think Bernie and Mick worked the crowd a bit better this time, and went out of their way to meet the audience after the show.

The supporting act was "The Nick Bell Band". They played 3 songs, Robin Trower "Bridge of Sighs" Black Sabbath "War Pigs" and they combined King Crimson "21st Century Schizoid Man" with Frank Zappa "Muffin Man" The group was quite good. Next it was a pleasant surprise that all 5 Uriah Heep members sat and held a Q/A session before they performed. Mick spoke of the time they opened for T.Rex and said how the audience kept interrupting T. Rex shouting for more Uriah Heep. He said they were locked in the dressing room and could listen to the speaker as to what was happening. A 13 year old drummer asked for advice on continuing a career in music. Russ told him to stay an individual, practice, and be a good guy. Bernie was asked what his favorite song from his 32 years in the band is, he replied favorite songs change a lot but at the moment he said his favorite song is "What Kind of God?" I won't add much to the previous reviews as far as the show went, just what I consider my highlights. It was good to open with "Gypsy" I was looking forward to "Shadows of Grief" and they did not disappoint. Bernie had a nice scream which I know is more difficult to do than it sounds, which brings me to "Sunrise" I mentioned the last time I saw them play this how incredible Bernie sounded, this time it was even better. He held that final note beautifully and a bit longer. "Magicians Birthday" was better than last time also. (Just my opinion) The guitar/drum exchange was a lot crisper. I believe the guitar part was a bit closer to the studio version. Phil is still a pleasure to see and quite entertaining. And what can I say, "July Morning" Although I am biased, this is still one of the absolute best songs in history. While I do miss Trevor raising his bass above his head, Davey had a nice little semi-solo which shows his talent. The acoustics were very good, however I think a few songs Bernie was a bit stifled, maybe a bit more volume. I know most people who see them prefer the older songs, I wish the ratio would be 50/50 with the songs Bernie sang in the studio. While this was a great show it was even better in the fact that my son-in-law, daughter, and my wife were all there. My wife has pretty bad knees yet she was a real trooper and stood for most of the show. I am very excited for the new release and I know they will play North America again. I realize they will soon celebrate 50 years and with the renewed energy I've noticed I'm sure Mick could still be on top of his game for years to come.
