well Igor - it was written and largely recorded before John was hired. and Ken has said he always wrote with David in mind, even after he'd gone. that said, I cannot imagine the album with anyone else, because I think John does such a great job, really leaves his mark. I also think he is responsible for holding the next 2 albums together really with some patchy material. IMO.

Firefly is a fantastic
album for its year which was 1977, but this was NOT written
for David. :)))
