It's funny, because every time I listen to that Purple CD I think it sounds
more like modern day Heep than it does classic Purple.

I went through a phase in the late 70's and good part of the 80's where I
always craved new music. Now it seems I only crave Heep, and I must admit,
it is easier on the wallet!

That said, I picked up the new DEEEP PURPLE cd yesterday, with very low
expectations. There were a few comments on the list, then seemed to die
off. I played one listen so far, and I must say I am very pleased and
surprised. Now What on first listen, sounds much better than purpindicular,
Bananas or Rapture of the Deep. Not sure if I missed any others, but they
are not rememberable. Now What is the best I have heard since Perfect
Strangers. The keyboards really jumped out at me, much more dominant than I
ever remember Airey sounding. Plus all the songs did not sound the same, I
heard lots of keyboard and guitar solos and it all sounded very
artsy/progressive. A couple of songs I thought I was listening to Styx or
Kansas. The keys were very up front. I can't wait to get back in the car
and listen some more. I am excited about this.
