Based on the wonderful things that Bob Winward said about the new Styx album, I gave it a listen. It has moments of brilliance (and I really mean “moments”). Only problem with the album is when you start getting into the songs, they end !  I figure each song (15 of them) is around 3 minutes each, give or take a few seconds. Did they start playing the songs and then lose interest in making them complete ?  The same formula was used for each selection........open up strong and then add a touch of brilliance in the middle, which then turns into a closing of the song. Sounds like the 2-3 minute songs they used to play on AM radio back in the 60’s, only these are 2-3 minute songs on steroids !!  Too bad they couldn’t come up with some strong songs with substance.
