I don't see the lyrics as an issue. Many of the hugest bands have lyrical 
content that has little to do with sex, drugs or rock n roll (Rush, 
Metallica, Iron Maiden, U2 to name a few).

The common thread of this situation was always promotional according to
most members past,passed on,or present. A lot was money and some was a lot
of rock fans don't want stories with morals. Heep never wrote much"give it
to me baby make my body...."well you know the rest.
