Well Mac, it's the first time I've ever heard "stop speeding" used in that context, or maybe I was just speeding :-)

Ha ha, I guess I just thought it ridiculous that a guitar could only play one song and the whole crowd thing turning up at midnight every night except one and the singer is the only one who doesn't know he's not there that night?

At least we agree on GTI, an updated version of Schoolgirl :-)

Don't get me wrong people, I think the guys all play well and there are some great musical bits, but I feel it's just too rushed and contrived and forced and doesn't all hang together well, particularly because of the lyric writing. I'm sure I'll enjoy it more live, well apart from Waters Flowing that is :-)

Pete, I have to disagree with you on most of the lyrics. I felt "stop speeding" meant stop jumping to conclusions. Also the bit about the young making the future better. Imo that's talking about kids and grandkids. Most of the time they do make change more tolerable and give us something to look forward to. Also, I don't have any problem with the story about the guitar. I love that they finally did a full on ballad. Singing about a guitar beats the hell out of singing about a car. It's a great song along especially where mick's electric guitar comes in. It might be a bit folky but there's certainly nothing country & western about it.  Now, I have to agree with you on Goodbye  to Innocence.  Singing about as teenage girl who's a teacher's  pet. If this was Bernie's contribution he needs to be banned from writing lyrics. I skip this song in the rotation.  It's too bad that what you consider a few warts ruins the album for you. To me, the band actually fixed several of my complaints about previous albums, especially concerning variety.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
