[Heeplist] Conquest debate

With all of the recent talk about the Conquest album, I decided to listen for myself. Although a big fan of Heep music, I was mostly familiar with the Byron era and came back at the beginning of Bernie's reign.
So, I missed a lot of the stuff inbetween. I'm sure I had some of the vinyl and listened to it without really ingesting it.
I downloaded Conquest and listened to it twice all the way through. On the positive side, I enjoyed Trevor's contributions and his bass is brought to the front in the mix. Chris Slade's drumming is also very consistent and serves the songs. The songs however were not terribly remarkable to my ears and the singer was also not my cup of tea. Truth be told, I would not know it was UH except for some of the block harmonies.
Do I think it's a terrible piece of music-- no, but it is not something I would go back to for enjoyment. I'm now looking forward to discovering more of the Heep I don't know. Where to next???
