My wife Kathy and I drove to the Heep show in Angola, IN on Sunday, March 4. We got to the venue at Trine University at 6:30pm, it was an 1 1/2 from my sons house in Kalamazoo, MI, where we got to visit my son’s family, two grandkids!! The venue was very nice theater seating, not sure how many people?? Maybe 200 to 250??

When we got there I got to meet up with Lannis and talk some before the show. Very nice to see him and Bobbie again. We met once back in 2002 at Trenton, NJ shows. Went to our seats, 6th row, Mick’s side of stage, very close view of all the band, got nice pics! The sound quality was awesome! All clear sounds on instruments and Bernie’s voice was right on, hitting some very high notes. Heep choir was great as always. Set list was the same as the others listed. The set list really highlights all the years and the unique sound of Heep.

I enjoyed every minute of every song. Magicians birthday highlighted by Mick and Russell playing so strong. Russell just annihilates the drum set! I really like One Minute live, good to hear Between Two Worlds again. I think it was a very good set to reunite old fans of Heep that lost track of them. This will bring more fans back to the fold!! Fun chatter by Bernie between songs. You can tell the band loved playing to the crowd in this beautiful venue. Anyone going to their shows in this tour will not be disappointed as the band is on top form. Davey Rimmer is really a good fit now that he’s been there since 2013. Phil of course is awesome, love his vocals in MB! As mentioned Heep choir is the best!

Got to see another Heepster - Andre after the show. Always good to see friends at concerts!

Little did I know I would ever get to meet the band again in my life! Afterwards, Kathy and I got to meet up and say high to all the band members, including pics with Davey, Bernie and Mick. There were only 10 of us fans visiting with them after the show. We told Bernie and Mick that we’ve been married 40 years and Kathy told them that when we were dating, I would try to impress her with my Heep albums. She said she remembered how excited I was when I bought Wonderworld and shared it with her. We even took The Easy Road as one of “our” songs! I told Bernie I liked they did it at Trenton! Mick was impressed that we’ve been married for 40 years! I asked Bernie if he was excited to be playing in Vancouver, and of course he is and he has lots of family coming both there and in San Diego. My wife got a nice hug from Mick. We are both very impressed with how friendly all the band is. Mick walked across the room with a big smile and introduced himself to us, very friendly!!

What a night to remember!! Really enjoyed getting together and visiting after the concert with Lannis and Bobbie. Looking so forward to the NEW Heep album in September, anticipation just like it was in 1973 for Sweet Freedom and 1974 for Wonderworld, actually released in June 1974, same month I met my wonderful wife!!

Living The Dream!!
Stan
