Had a quick listen to some of Phil's cd download. Just some quick thoughts
on first listen.
Not bad so far. I like Mind Over Matter and I Knew I was Dreaming.
Orchestral and balladsy.
You can see the influence from Kelly's Gang on Heep's Into The Wild.
Not sure about Phil's vocals on I saw Two Englands, not bad just different
if you're expecting something like Mr Majestic. Also sounds a bit country
style.
Lover's Highway is quite a bit rockier and could form the basis of a good
Heep song.
Donna & Joe is a perfectly listenable track with some nice vocal harmonies
and fairly rocky.
Carolin doesn't really appeal. I think it's the pedal steel guitar or
whatever it is. Lyrically and vocally it doesn't add much. A skipper I
think.
The Bells is better, quite a bit heavier. Reminds me of a Heep song, but I
just can't put my finger on which one.
The Forest is a lot more prog rock. Nice to hear some piano breaks in there
too. And I really like the backing chorus in it. I could definitely see Heep
doing this track. I think this has got to be my favourite on the CD and even
Phil's vocals are good on it. Really like the style and story behind this.
Excellent track.
