Sounds like me, I'm 60 and started listening to them in 1972, my first Heep album was Look at Yourself!, later I got Demons and Wizards on 8 track and was hooked for life!

Gave up interest in Heep after Lawton left and re-found them in 1999 thanks to the Internet! I bought Sea of Light and Sonic Origami, and found out they had an excellent band still or once again depending on your opinion! After that I filled in the rest of the music I had missed. 

I seen Heep for the first time in 2001 in Ohio, setting in the front row next to Bob Winward!  He recommended the Heeplist to me!, thanks again Bob!! I was mesmerized and the band was awesome! Even got to meet the entire band while they milled amongst the crowd, I couldn't believe it! It was a dream come true!
