Happy New Year to you, greetings from snowy Russia, and many happy returns
of the day! :)))))) I still can't post to the list but I can reply to you
personally, so that's what I am doing right now. Now my 2 cents on the
subject: Bernie is a very good singer yet for me he's not nearly as
charismatic or truly Heepy (which means delicate and clear-voiced really)
as Byron or Lawton were. And the comparison of Gilbrook's stay in the band
to the one of Hensley's... it is just ridiculous. I mean, one had written
the whole book of classic songs, had enormous charisma, singing abilities,
poetic gift - is it serious to mention anyone in comparison with him as
regards Uriah Heep? It is not about being classic or not, it is about the
input, and Byron's 7 (not 6) years with UH mean much-much more than
Bernie's 30. Yes, 30 looks impressive although even quantity-wise Byron
with his 7 still surpasses Bernie, and I say nothing about the quality of
the material and its relevance. What positive have I to say about their
anniversary is that their alliance is really a happy one and from that
point of view I am really happy for all current members of the band. May
they play long and introduce many more younger generations of Heep fans to
their magical, charming music of old and more plain yet still very good
music of 90-s - 2000-s.
