[Heeplist] Byron era and the others

I know what you mean, Igor. There are many 'mistakes' on the live performances of early Heep but that's what I was referring to when I mentioned that I liked the raw vibe of that era. Mistakes are natural. You can never be perfect but that's cool. I like that rough edge and unpredictability of live Heep shows of the Byron era. It was a great time and I really enjoy looking back through these unique performances. Byron has a completely unique approach to the live atmosphere and it's captivating. There was a lot of magic in this time, less so now. However, in more recent Heep times, they rock! Bernie Shaw is a mighty vocalist. I was lucky enough to be invited to their backstage bar after a gig last year and got chatting with all of the band. Really genuine guys and Bernie really is an amazing vocalist. Just an amazing band really!

In order to deliver it in a more poetical way, I prefer them to hit the nail right on the head than to make love in silence. :)))))

I think the Byron era sort of brings that magical atmosphere into classic rock music. Well written songs. Completely unique to any other band. David's charisma comes through in his vocals too. Really enjoyable to hear. Then the more ballad like songs bring tears to my eyes. It's a genuine feel. Very raw and rough round the edges but perfected to the max at the same time. If that's even possible.. Well it is with Heep! I love the Magician's Birthday and Demons & Wizards albums. Beautiful album art too by Roger Dean (one of my favourite surrealists) which seems to connect so well with the music itself. I love all Heep but there's something very special about these early albums. It's hard to explain how music makes me feel but I hope you get my drift with this one.
