 Scott,
In order to get a proper answer to your last question, you should ask yourself a few more questions. :) How many songs and albums did David Byron record during his relatively short time with Heep? Was there even a single one which isn't classic to a true Heep lover? How unique his singing manner was, how many people were drawn to Heep's camp only because of his voice's magical charms? If you get to know the right answers and afterwards have them compared to the similar ones regarding Bernie (and some others) and his era, perhaps then you will stop wondering. :)))))))))))))
