 Don,
I am happy for you, 'cause you can easily imagine things that I obviously can't. :))))) But perhaps you are right, who knows. As for me, - and don't take it as some kind of blasphomy -  I am really happy David NEVER had a chance to enter the late 80-s - 90-s etc.; for he belongs to a truly glorious era and never really recorded any LP of a disputable quality. Honestly, even the blues-rock/pop/rock albums by Byron alone seem of enormously greater value to me than any late Heep with Shaw singing. Having said that, I have nothing against Outsider, it is very good... but for its day and age which are obviously not as great for hard rock as the 70-s were. Luckily, they are not as bad as the late 80-s either although I was a teenager especially then. :))))
Cheers, Igor

Check this out, please... and then reconsider. For those who want to know where this leads to - it is from his solo LP of 1975 but actually composed in 1972, Silver White Man...  David Byron - Silver White Man  Also this would be worth checking out, Traveller In Time, 1972, written in colaboration with Box and Kerslake - but I am sure this came to David's head first, at least lyrically:  Uriah Heep - Traveller In Time

I mean, we are all people and may have something in common. :) So, during the first month after I got it I listened to Outsider quite often, sometimes even twice or thrice a day, - like to most of this Heep version's LP's, but afterwards lost the interest in it entirely. I know, it is only a matter of time, and the songs are good but... they are plain rock'n'roll, I don't feel like there is another dimension to them, and it is very unlike that Heep band which I return to very often, at least in my thoughts and dreams. I am sure that has a lot to do with the nature of the main composers: Hensley and Byron surely had a touch of dreaming and genuine fantasy to their creative side while Mick and Phil seem to be more earthly guys. They just rock. No way the above said means they are not good at what they do, but that "earthly" quality reflects on their music for sure, at least that is how I see it.
