 Merrick, your phrase, "Some musicians are happy with being in a comfort zone playing the same thing" - it applies to Heep, for instance. :))) And I love them for that.

As far as if I have original idea or not that is funny as I would put my musical resume up against most people who would criticize me. Some musicians are happy with being in a comfort zone playing the same thing. Me I love to try different styles. Whether it was learning covers or creating originals. The most important thing for me musically is having fun, making it sound good.

>>Merrick,
>>I find it disputable whether a musician should be open to anything new. If you are just a player, do it for the money, and have no ideas of your own - well, right you are, fine. But I 'd rather die than play certain music genres (modern pop, punk, gunge, and many others), and, as a player, I have my definite preferences. Hair metal? That's ok with me as long as they can play, Motley Crue sound way much entertaining to me than Cranberies, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen or U2. :)))

>>>One thing is i will never apologize or feel apologetic for music I do. Thank god Uriah Heep has always explored the musical landscape. Look at acoustically driven and then you have from the first album to outsider. Some people don't like any thing after Byron?? I don't know why???
>>>
>>>I will tell you this it is bands like Uriah Heep and Rush who have influenced me a lot. I am not talking about trying to sound like them or play like them. I am talking about trying different musical avenues, hearing something new from heep and saying to my self that is great how did they come up with that where my one friend who likes heep can only say it doesn't sound like demons and wizards. That is ok to that is where he is and I just feel as a musician that you need to be as open as possible. Here is florida you have some guys in there 40's and 50's still trying to do hair metal. what every works for them
