[Heeplist] H&M Filler

I stand corrected!! lol!! What I actually meant was some consider those songs filler by previous posts over the last 18 years on the list. Personally, I love the chanting and the vocals on Can't Stop Singing. Pete do you remember when Mick was on the list and I asked him what the chant was in the beginning of the song? His answer was "Loads of Laughs in Africa"
As for Confession, a great vocal by David similar to Rain. A very meaningful song and nice ballad in which Heep proved it could do a Capella. That is also right about Ken playing Weep in Silence, I always loved his guitar work in Heep. Does anyone remember the song Fools on Conquest? Did Ken play that solo too? I am guilty of giving the wrong guy credit.

The vocal on One Way or Another I like as a change of pace. As a fan of King Crimson, UK and Asia, I always enjoyed Wetton's vocals.

Remember I consider no heep as filler or else All Heep is good Heep would not make sense.

Oh dear, I am going to have to correct you boys again. "Confession" is no
way filler, it is the stand out track on the album. The one that makes it
worth listening to! If you want filler look at One Way or Another and
Wetton's awful vocals on it. I shall brook no argument on this. In this, my
opininion is,like Jay's, always correct :-) Now go listen to Confession
again 10 times in succession and tell me another Heep ballad that comes
anywhere close to it. See I told you, you can't :-) End of debate!

I think folk were turned off by H&M because the band deviated from fantasy.
However in my opinion, at the time and still, Ken got his chance to dominate
and shine. The music is outstanding. Ok, there is 2 filler songs Can't
Stop Singing and Confession, but the rest of them rock. Even Make A Little
Love is a catchy tune. Their most underated tune is "Can't Keep a Good Band
Down" I have always felt that would be a perfect track for them to open
shows with. Listen to the lyrics, Heep is waving their flag at the
critics!!

The guitar work is Mick's best to date and though Ken did abandon the
hammond, his keys are very progressive sounding for the time. David soared
on this one, it was his best vocal to date. Other than Confession, I don't
hear any pop. Weep in Silence has to be Mick's signature track, the guitar
work on that song is breathtaking. Footprints in the Snow is one of the
most haunting songs heep has done. Midnight, my all time favorite heep song
is the one that conjures up the magic of early pyschodelic heep. One Way
or Another is a rocking song and I always liked the different feel of the
vocals.

By the way what is wrong with Pop anyway? I hate the term!! I like music
that is light and airy and positive sounding. Go listen to some Hip Hop
with all its ethnic slurs and foul language. Then put on some country
music!! By the time you roll around to the pop again, it will sound pretty
good!
