Subject: [Heeplist] John Lawton news

I was at a 60th birthday party last night of a mutual friend of mine & John
Lawton's. Benjy Reid (JL Band) had put together a band for the night
featuring Steve Dunning on bass, Tino Troy (Praying Mantis) and Lyla D'Souza
on vocals. Steve was still excellent on bass and it was a real treat to see
and hear him playing again. They played covers of a wide range of classic
rock songs. John got up and did a couple of songs. First one I didn't
recognise and the second was Can't Get Enough Of Your Love. He was sounding
in fine form and can still work the audience, even managing to get the
birthday boy and his shy wife to join in on vocals :)

Anyway, two bits of interesting news I can tell you is that there is a plan
to reform Lucifer's Friend and maybe do some live gigs. And maybe some new
tracks on a best of compilation. Before someone jumps on me, I know there
will have to be a different drummer in it.

John is also supposed to be doing some gigs at the end of the year in Russia
with3 different orchestras in 3 different places. No band just the
orchestra. Dan McCafferty to do 3 or 4 songs, John to do 5 or 6 and maybe
Graham Bonnet to do 5 or 6 as well.

Obviously this is still all subject to confirmation and details etc and may
not happen.

Cheers,

Pete
