[Heeplist] An artist in rock and financial success

No doubt Mick Box is a sympathetic person. I also came to this conclusion, he's very friendly with fans and overall cheerful. Very true is the presence of his own sound, too - and in all arguments I always say he's as great as any Blackmore/Page/Iommi/whoever-of-the-lot due to this unique recognizable feature: "wah-tone" of his as well as his typical harmonies. However you can't be serious making parallels: LZ was a classic band of four great individuals, UH were the same of five, - but that was then! Losing only one LZ decided they can't carry on as that very classic band under that very name while Mr.Box thought different. The outcome is that  from 1982 Heep is a very different beast, not really classic, with many faces, some are quite attractive, some are... not that attractive and really hated by the old Heep fans. I was never crazy about Goalby or Shaw era. At least when I was introduced to UH I was sure this band and its name is an evil joke on that great classic Heep. But since then a lot of water passed under the bridge - and now I am more tolerant and think for many the existence of 80-90-s Heep was the key to the great legacy. And I like most of their modern material although not in every detail especially since the drums are very "metallic"(prog-metallic, whatever it is, the style is improper for Heep), very unlike Lee. But Mick knows better what is necessary for his band, I believe :))))))))))))))) Still we must salute him, his hard working cheerful approach made that finally his Heep perhaps is more critically acclaimed then the original one - the times they are a changin' :)
Cheers, Igor

>The discussion about bands doing it for the money, well..of course they do..its how they make a living. But for guys like Mick its not only that, I think he would still be rocking even if he was a multi trillionair.
>Mick is a gentleman and the sweetest guy in Rock without a doubt, I had the pleasure of changing a few words with him a couple times and I cant say it enough, what a guy. Was kinda surprised once back in the 80`s though when he just handed me his glass from stage, I downed it of course and it turned out to be straight vodka lol got me Mick..

>PS: He is of course also a brilliant brilliant guitar player, not many got their own sound anymore..Mick does.
