Keeping in mind that I have been a Heep fan since the beginning and especially since Bernie became their singer, I was a little surprised by parts of the new album. It is a great piece of work and, I'm sure, represents what the band wants to say. My only criticism is that new drummer, Russell Gilbrook, takes his double bass drumming style a little too far for Uriah Heep. This is not a criticism of his talent, but on at least 2 songs, (either track 3 & 4, or 4 &5) the constant metal style of double bass really overwhelms the melodies and songs themselves. This is just my personal taste and I applaud them for continuing to move forward, but the barrage of bass drums just doesn't fit, to my ears.
Heep on and I really hope they can do a proper, proffitable and safe tour of the US sometime soon.
