I don't think this is not correct that Heep is shy to play new  
material. On the contrary in my opinion they've played them a lot.  
 From 2001 to 2007 there was an exception to this but that's natural  
as there wasn't a new album to promote.

On Sea Of Light tour they played six songs from the album, they  
changed the songs a bit so that different new songs were played but  
there was always the same number of new songs in the set.
On Sonic Origami tour the set included eight new songs.
On Wake The Sleeper tour they played the whole album in its entirety,  
11 new songs.
At the start of Into The Wild tour they played seven songs from the  
album, after a while two new songs were dropped from the set so there  
were five new songs.
Lately there have been only three or four songs from Into The Wild in  
the set but it's understandable as the album is already three years old.
