[Heeplist] California Breed

I never see my emails, either. I did get my third message this month that I had excessive bounces and had to redo my membership to the list! AARGH!!!

BTW, I cannot stop playing California Breed, it's the first album this year that i've played this many times, a real grower. And Dave, the guitarist plays quite a few solos and filler licks on every song, his solos are just short. i don't know if any are more than 8 bars long. His soloing style reminds me of Mick: not his tone or anything like that, but in that he does a lot with very few notes. Mick is the second best guitarist I've ever heard at that (BB King being the master).

Jay

Okay for some reason none of the mails which Jay sends to the list, come through on my end. I only see people's reply to them ...

At any rate, Jay, thanks for the heads up! I will put this one on my list. I love Glen Hughes (more so on vocals than on bass, though he kills on a 4-string) but I was never too fond of BCC. It just never really "clicked" with me, I guess ... But I will be on the outlook for this one anyway.

It's a good album and the bonus track is really good, I like the guitar player but think he should of played at least a little lead guitar, that said I like the album and really think they all fit well together, I do think the BCC albums are a bit better than this one, so far, as I feel the lack of lead guitar makes it less interesting for me as a guitar player. However I really like the drums which to me sound as close to classic Zeppelin as I've ever heard and
that puts it over the top as a must have album. DS

This is as good as any of the Black Country Communion albums with an even heavier Zep vibe. Had to search for a while to find the deluxe edition bonus track "Solo", but that was well worth it, it's one of the better songs.

Definitely a funkier feel than BCC, this is definitely one of my favorite Hughes/related albums I've heard after only 2 listens.

in a 70s rock sound. (I'm not saying it sounds anything like Heep!!!)
