Well we still have 3 weeks until the new Heep cd!! And I have a suggestion
for a way to pass the time most enjoyably! We often joke about the
³Lurkers² on the list and in the past have had some pretty famous ones as
well, like Lee Kerslake, Mick Box, Ken Hensley, Charlotte the sound
technician and others from time to time. I have discovered a Lurker
recently who is a very accomplished guitarist and his music has blown me
away!! I got an email from him offllist in which he was agreeing with some
of my onlist comments about heep. After a few exchanges, I just happened to
click on the link in his signature file and heard the song Let¹s Get Back to
Rock, it was actually a video, a really cool video! So I told him how much
I enjoyed the song. He sent me the cd called ³Respect the Rock² and I must
say, I cannot get it out of my cd player in the car. I did take it out once
to play through another cd called ³One Night Stand² of the same artist.

Ok enough of the suspense, a couple of you may have noticed his rare and
occasional replies to the list, yes David Wilkes Booth. Anyone in the US
may immediately think he is the guy who shot President Lincoln but I assure
you David is not old enough!! Lol! I will say this, if Honest Abe was still
around, he too would enjoy the Wilkes Booth band.

Here is the link I clicked on: http://www.wilkesbooth.com/ right away I
clicked on the video for ³Lets Get Back to Rock². It is not only
entertaining but the song is catchy. It is right underneath the phrase : ³I
Said..²

The band has been together for a long time and all the bio is on the
website. I have heard a lot of work of many talented individuals on our
list over the years, so this one came as a complete surprise. I call it the
best 80¹s rock I never heard. They sound to me like a cross between Judas
Priest, April Wine, early Aerosmith and the vocalist at times like Phil Moog
of UFO. The bass player is quite good, and really plays a thumping bass
somewhat like John Entwhistle of the Who, the guitar work is as good as any
guitarist I have heard from the 80¹s and the drumming outstanding.
Anyhow, I listened to their lastest cd ³Respect the Rock² about 3x and then
could not get some of the songs out of my head. The songs do not break any
new ground, this is not prog rock, but just good old hard nosed good time
rock and roll played by highly talented musicians. The lyrics tackle the
base things in life, sex, booze, rock and you can hear the band¹s enjoyment.

There are 12 songs, 2 are ballads, 10 rockers. This Is really great, good
time rock n roll! My favorites are the high energy Lets Get Back To Rock,
Respect the Rock, Do You Want to Kiss Me (my opinion the most outstanding
track) the ballad Two Hearts, Hell Bent Urges (you would swear this is a
hidden gem from the Judas Priest archives) and Stalker (this one reminds me
of Heep¹s Shadow, but not in sound, just the lyric hook)

Check out the website, if you feel adventurous and I know several of you
would really enjoy the music. If you want to hear more or have questions,
Dave¹s email is dwbrocks at yahoo.com and you may have seen a few of his posts
over the years sort of like the rare bird (blue bellied lurker) that may
land on your window ledge for 20 seconds then fly off. Lol! :-) Dave was
kind enough to send me 3 cds and would do likewise for those who would
express interest.
