Yes, a lot of people do not like Meat's vocals on "Free-for-All", but when
I am sitting at the PC one can often hear me singing, "Don't YOU know, I
love YOU, so I told YOU a lie, I love YOU so I told YOU a lie, when I told
YOU goodbye!" lol Meat, thanks to Jim Steinman's contributions, is not
always considered in the same vein as other Classic Rock artists due to the
operatic vocals, but, believe me, he can rock out with the best of them. I
seen him twice live: First, in 1983 at the "Monsters of Rock", where I
thought Rick Bozzo was Ronnie Wood, lol, and secondly in Ulm, Germany in
1987, where I actually won an autographed copy of his "Live" album from the
Radio station that I went on a couple of years later to compete against.
By the way, at the "Monsters of Rock", Meat was joined on stage by the
following for a jam of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode": Dee Snider & Eddie
Ojeda of "Twisted Sister", Graham Oliver & Paul "Dobby" Dobson, then of
"Saxon", Brian Robertson, then of "Motorhead", Phil Lynott, Brian Downey &
Scott Gorham of "Thin Lizzy", Buck Dharma & Eric Bloom of "Blue Oyster
Cult", and even Mickey Moody & Bernie Marsden of the headlining act,
"Whitesnake"! Anyone who has that much clout to assemble so many talented
artists in one place has to be a true Rocker at heart, and we can all
agree, Meat's heart is a big one! Lastly, Marvin Lee Aday legally changed
his name, much like Alice Cooper, to Meat Loaf, so there is no need for the
quotation marks when writing his name, but that's just the English teacher
in me talking. lol
