Shawn,
I know there's a place for such material, at times it is even alright (to me that was Saxon' CD of 2002, Heavy Metal Thunder, where they re-recorded classics of theirs in a more metal way than initially) - but I will never say it is better. It simply can't be, due to different reasons, including age. And such recordings always prove that at that very time some band didn't have much to say but rather needed money. Or their respective label did. To me the question - if I had one - what to choose, either "Celebration" (that's UH product of relatively the same kind) or "Wake The Sleeper", would always be an easy one.  Hits are sure golden, but something fresh has more value to it for me. At least, when it is first released, - and than time does tell. I think bands know this idea is not that lucrative for the fans - so they throw in something new along with something old.
Cheers, Igor

>>>In the past few years... Uriah Heep and Ken Hensley released remixes on their past "back in the day" early years songs.   I bought both of them eagerly.  For some odd reason, I love cover songs and remixes.  Good songs made better just always facinated me.  The Uriah Heeps days of "First Album to High and Mighty" there was no bad songs.  Anyway, back to the remix Cd's...did anyone else get these?  I really didnt notice that much difference on the Uriah Heep remixes for the exception of a different voice and on Gypsy, Micks guitar took control of the old moog synthesizer beginning.   On Kens remix, same thing.  Not that much different than the orignals but a different voice.  For the exception of "Lady in Black".  Ken really did that song a major plus...  wow... I love the changes he made on that.
