[Heeplist] Easy Livin' In Salo

Some of you may have heard something about this. Soon it will be  
public news when the website is launched. Meanwhile you can check out  
my website www.heepfiles.net but here's some advance info.

Last year at Heepvention in Spain Finland was the country with the  
biggest number of participants. This gave those us an idea to try to  
arrange a Heep event of our own in Finland. There have been rumours  
about Heepvention type of events being arranged in Bulgaria etc. but I  
haven't yet heard of wheather these plans will be materialized. We at  
least in the Finnish Uriah Heep fan club are going ahead with our plans.

This will NOT be a Heepvention, we are trying not coåy the formula and  
hopefully we will be able to bring something special and different in  
but of course there will be similarities since the basic idea is the  
same. The Heep fans getting together, enjoying Heep music and having a  
good time. Hopefully there will be also a lot of fans from outside of  
Finland.

The event is held in Salo, Finland from 20th to 22nf August 2009 and  
it will be called: Easy Livin' In Salo. Salo is a small city on the  
countryside ca. 100 kilometers from Helsinki. The main concert will be  
on Saturday with Ken Hensley together with the German Heep cover band  
Circle Of Hands. Hopefully during this week it will be confirmed  
whether John Lawton will be joining them also and discussions are  
under way with at least Lee Kerslake. If Lawton is able to take part,  
he will start the event on Thursday 20th as the guest of Carballo  
Brothers, this is a band formed by the guys who were at Spain taking  
part of the Heep jams, on Friday 21st Circle Of Hands will play their  
own show. Apart from that also several Finnish bands will be  
performing on both nights. There will also be jam sessions but done a  
bit differently compared to Heepventions. The plans are to have a sort  
of house band so that at least part of the band will remain the same  
througout the set.

On Friday 21st there will be a very special thing: The Ken Hensley  
songwriting class which is a kind of interactive workshop. In Ken's  
one words the subjets covered will be at least these:
- Introduction to his song-writing background
- Playing a selection of songs with specific discussion of key points  
(inspiration, origin, development, particular features, lyrics,  
melodies etc...)
- Discussion of song structure and the absolute importance of the lack  
of rules and restrictions
- Writing a song together (or at least part of one)
- Subjects of publishing and copyright as these are important and much  
misunderstood

As I mentioned earlier, more info will be available when the website  
is opened but if anybody on the list is interested in coming over,  
just send me an e-mail and I'll give some additional info. The traffic  
connections to Salo are good, it is along the motorway from Helsinki  
to Turku and you can get there easily by bus or train. If you come  
flying, you can get to Salo by bus directly from Helsinki airport  
without even having to go to the centre of the city. Fans from Sweden  
can also come by boat from Stockholm to Turkur, Salo is ony ca. 50  
kilometers from Turku.

During his visit to Finland Hensley will also play some acoustic solo  
shows before the Salo event, so far there's one show in Helsinki  
confirmed but plans are to have a couple more.
