HEEPVENTION
2005 MP3 AUDIO FILES (Source #2)
Notes and
Recording by Rob Dwyer
This is an alternate audio recording of the
Heepvention 2005 show. I recorded these with a
Sharp 8mm camera from near the soundboard. The
sound quality is very clear and excellent, but is in
mono. This is a more complete recording than Mac's
MiniDisc source, but lacks most of the 2nd and final
Heep set at the end. These MP3's are all encoded
with LAME set for a high VBR, but average around 128
kbps due to the mono sound.
I edited my audio version of the
Heepvention 2005 in such a way that it should make a
nice keepsake for all those who attended. I left
in all of the notable comments and announcements from
the stage, but removed all of the long awkward silences
and soundchecks. For those of you who weren't able
to attend, it should give you a fairly accurate feel for
what the show was like - minus all the breaks! The
MP3 files in set 1 will fit on one CD if you cut the
"Door Prizes" sequence. I left that just
in case anyone did want to hear that. I was
outside coaching Avery on drum parts, so I'm glad that I
recorded it. I even won something and didn't
realize it at the time!
Thanks to Mac for sharing his
recordings too! Sadly, Dave White's soundboard
recording was completely lost due to some very
frustrating power snafus during the taping of the show.
The complete show was also filmed by Ed Halliburton with
a MiniDV camcorder, so we're all hoping he got the
closing Heep set at the end that everyone else failed to
capture. Our rendition of "July Morning"
was the best one we've done at a Heepvention yet!
I will only be leaving these up until
the end of the year, so be sure to download these tracks
while they are still available. I have only
finished up through the end of the first set, but more
tracks are forthcoming, including songs that were
rehearsed but not performed at the show
("Stealin'", "Return To Fantasy" and
more). Also, I have the acoustic set that was
recorded at Calhoun's on Saturday night (August 6th).
These will be posted as soon as I find time to edit
them!
