BYRON ASKED TO REJOIN
Mick Box hadn't given up on Heep despite disbanding
the last lineup and his plans included Trevor Bolder.
Mick and Trevor next decided to ask David Byron if
he'd like to rejoin the band. "We had the deals and the money
in our pocket while he was still trying to put something together and we
couldn't believe it when he said he didn't want to know," Mick recalled. Trevor decided to accept a deal to join Wishbone Ash
since Uriah Heep seemed to be dead for good. In Mick's words, "I locked myself in my flat for two days and drank myself senseless in complete self-pity."
MICK BOX BAND
Mick's advisors were recommending he jump on the guitar hero bandwagon that was popular at the time by forming the Mick Box Band.
However, there was still the possibility of reforming Heep from the ashes.
In the end, the deciding factor was the letters from Heep fans. Overwhelmingly, the fans wanted Mick to reform Uriah Heep. The name still had a special place in their hearts.
THE UNRELEASED 1980 ALBUM
When Mick Box disbanded Uriah Heep in early 1981, an entire album - worth of recordings were shelved.
These are songs from the Box / Bolder / Sloman / Dechert / Slade lineup. None of this material has yet been released.
The only released we have from this lineup is a single "Think It Over" and B - side "My JoAnna Needs Tuning". Of course, "Think It Over" was rerecorded with the first Goalby lineup for Abominog.
Additionally a very poor quality bootleg recording of "Taking It All The Way" played by Heep live in concert in
November 1980 has also surfaced in trading circles.
