STUDIO 54

During a US tour supporting Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep went to New York's famed party club, Studio 54. When the band tried to gain adfmittance, the doorman asked the infamous question "Uriah Who?". This remark may very well have inspired the "Uriah Who?" t-shirt. In fact, I think Lee's response is printed on the back on the t-shirt!

ENDLESS FLIGHT

John Lawton allowed the attendees of Heepvention '99 to hear an unreleased Uriah Heep song that he had written. Although John wasn't sure in which sessions the song was recorded, it is believed the song was an outtake from the Five Miles sessions. The song isn't typically Heep but it has a very catchy melody .

JOHN LAWTON IS OUT!

Sounds  magazine  reported  the blow  up  between  Ken  Hensley and John Lawton as " the nearest thing  to  violence the  group had seen. "  However,  John  Lawton denies a blow up  ever  occurred between Ken and him. John told me recently that at the time of the Five Mile recordings,  the band mutually  decided they didn't care for the direction the music was going  and  John  decided  it was time  to leave. There  was  never any great  argument  between  John  &  Ken.  Those  events  were fictionalized by Sounds magazine. At the time of John's departure, an  entire album had been recorded which was never released.
