The Early
Sessions
Volume One
The first long awaited release of the Avenue Records recording sessions was finally finalized and made available. After more than forty years we finally get an official CD. The tracks were remastered and restored from the original 1" master tapes in 2011 and this is the first of a planned series if these do well with the fans. Although these are just cover songs done in the studio from 1968 to 1970 these songs give a perspective look into the magic of David's voice. This release marks the unfolding of what would be the last recordings of David to surface officially and yet they are from the very beginning.
This first release featured a remarkable array of songs, many that have been shared by fans but never in this quality. That made this release a milestone for Byron fans. Several tracks on this release come into question. First the version of 'Long as I Can See the light', yes this was David singing and the master tapes confirm the fact. Track #19 featured Peter Lee Stirling on lead vocals with David singing the backing. This was done to prove a point, how close their voices were when trying to identify the original recordings.
Initial release 1968 - 1970 by Avenue Records Remastered and released January 29th, 2012 by Artistry Records.
