England's 12 Top Hits LPs

This series suspended or replaced the release of the Studio 33 albums Avenue had produced over the previous year. Most of the tracks on these releases overlap with Avenue’s 7” EP releases and some albums are duplicated on the Marble Arch Chartbusters series. The beginning of this series was titled 12 Top Hits and then changed to the title of

England

’s 12 Top Hits.

The first recordings were completed at City Of London Studios but later on in the series it reflected the use of Pye Studios also located in London. Early musical credits are listed to The Clive Allan Orchestra and Singers but later credited The Alan Caddy Orchestra and Singers. Former Tornados guitarist Alan Caddy is credited as Musical Director on all the early Avenue EPs and is the same person listed as Clive Allan. Production is credited to Mel Gordon [rumored to be label owner Gordon Melville].

The series of albums continued well past the point listed on this page but those have no connection to David Byron and this is only to create a timeline in which he was part of the recordings produced during that period. The actual recording dates may vary in degree from the actual release.
